This is just to say that underground hibernating frog zombies exist in gardens in Florida. I know because I just saw one. I had a little plant that needed to be in the ground so I whipped out my spade to dig a hole for it and along with the dirt I pulled out a frog. Or a toad. He was completely under the ground and he appeared to be in a state somewhere between dead and alive. I felt badly for unearthing him so I watered the garden (and him) to make him feel better. I hope it's okay. Did anyone else know of the existence of underground frog zombies lurking in gardens?

Frog zombies. That's just creepy.
We should make a movie about that.

as new gardener was a bit startled by your find. Did google search: frogs underground.
Guess they do dwell under ground when it's cold.

To Karen:
huh. interesting. that would make sense, but it's not cold here. In fact, it's really hot already. But we have been in a dry spell so I thought maybe it had something to do with that. trying to preserve moisture and all. That's why I watered it/him! lol

Barb- Stephen had an encounter with one of those frogs last week! He was moving an old plant and thought the frog was a statue because it wasn't moving, and then it just snapped out of its daze and jumped on him! He said it scared him to death!
